Choose a useful view

Frame the bench, tool shelf, doorway, or equipment area that matters. Keep cables, the device, and its power supply safely away from heat, moving machinery, dust, liquids, and trip hazards. The camera should be stable before you calibrate it.

Separate work from background movement

Use a Watch zone for the work area and Ignore zones for a window, doorway, fan, or other background movement. Vibration, automatic exposure, changing sunlight, and moving shadows can all increase motion strength.

Test, then adjust

Run the Motion Sensitivity Test with typical lighting and activity. If the whole frame keeps changing, stabilise the camera. If the change is concentrated, exclude it with an Ignore zone. Repeat after changing the view.

Not a safety or machine-status system

Rapid Cactus detects motion only. It does not detect fire, diagnose failures, confirm machine state, or replace supervision, guards, alarms, or safety procedures. For a printer-specific view, see the 3D printer monitoring guide.
