What this checks

The test checks a local video-only permission request, whether a preview starts, approximate frame delivery, its displayed dimensions, and—where the browser provides them—camera labels and facing direction. It does not upload video or transmit technical information.

If the test cannot start

  • Permission denied: allow camera access in your browser’s site settings, then try again.
  • No camera: connect or enable a camera and reload after the system recognizes it.
  • Camera in use: close another app or browser tab that may be using it.
  • Black or frozen preview: stop the test, check any physical camera shutter, then start again.
  • Low frame rate: reduce other device activity and improve lighting before monitoring.
  • Secure connection needed: camera access normally requires HTTPS or a local development context.
  • Switching limitation: some mobile browsers restrict camera switching; stop and restart if needed.

Browser and device limits

Camera availability, labels, facing mode, and switching controls vary by browser and device. Keep this page open and your device awake while testing. For the privacy model, see Camera Privacy.
