Put safety before the camera

Mount the device and cable where an animal cannot pull, chew, knock over, or become entangled with them. Keep ventilation clear and place the camera for a stable view, not inside a crate or in a way that disrupts the animal.

Focus on the area, not the whole room

Use a Watch zone around the feeding, resting, or pet-door area and Ignore zones for a doorway, window, or moving background. Test the threshold with normal activity, daylight changes, and household movement.

What motion can and cannot tell you

Rapid Cactus only measures frame changes. It does not identify a pet, species, person, behaviour, distress, health condition, or safety problem. It also stops monitoring when the page closes or the device sleeps.

Respect people in the frame

Keep the view narrow when people may enter the area. Live video is not uploaded to Rapid Cactus servers; optional event saving remains local to this browser until you explicitly export or delete it.
