Choose a narrow, respectful view
Place the camera so it covers only the entry area you need. Avoid neighbouring property, public pavement, shared spaces, and more of a room than necessary. Check local privacy obligations for your setting; this guide is not jurisdiction-specific approval.
Draw the useful area
Use one Watch zone around the door or gate. Add Ignore zones over a window, street, fan, plant, or other routine movement. Zones focus frame-difference measurement; they do not identify a person or confirm an intrusion.
Test the real conditions
Use the Motion Sensitivity Test in daytime and at night, then make representative movement through the entry. Raise the threshold when baseline motion remains high and repeat after changing lighting or camera position.
Keep evidence deliberately
Event saving is off by default. If you enable it, local event evidence remains in this browser until you export or delete it. Consider who may appear in the frame and use the smallest retention that fits your purpose.
